Normally when you buy your fresh chicken from a butcher, you've got about five days from the time it's packaged to the time you have to consume it to keep it nice and fresh.
If however, you buy your birds cryovaced, that extends the fresh time up to 14 days, of course, provided that you keep the temperature nice and chilly, two to three to four degrees centigrade.
